Islam In The Indian Subcontinent

Literature on the subject is equivocal and the tension inherent in the many-sided and colorful Indian Islam seems to be expressed in different trends of studying the Muslim history of India. Avoiding such a complicated web of historical facts in a small book, the author, like her predecessors has also to emphasize certain aspects more than others which deserve more detailed treatment. In the present book, emphasis has been laid on a number of religious personalities who seem to personify the different trends of Indian Islam rather than on a ‘sociological’ analysis.
